There are 25 basic units producing 75.000 tons of sugar from beet root and the inauguration of 5 more units up to end of 1999 would add 140.000 tons to the total production.
1.85-2.5 million tons of sugarcane is produced in Iran which 185.000- 250.000 tons of sugar and other supplementary products such as paper, alcohol, citric acid, particle board, and yeast are derived from it.
400.000 tons of molass is produced in Iran yearly. And 7.000 tons yeast, 18082 tons alcohol, and 47.000 tons single cell protein are produced from molass and the production of yeast would increase 16.000 tons by establishing 4 more units up to the end of 1999.
