Starch -based products have the highest consumption in Iran. Thus the industries dealing with such products are really important and highly emphasized by the government. Wheat is the main ingredient for the products of this group.

A yearly production of 10.976.970 tons of wheat doesn't fulfill the country's need and the government imports wheat. Wheat is mainly used for bread baking, but numerous other products are made from wheat: gluten, glucose, dextrose, sorbitol (from dextrose), biscuit, cake, fantasy bread, macaroni, and….

Potato is one of the important starch-based plants. There is production capacity of 3.300.000 tons a year for producing potato in the country. But the processing industry is overlooked and has got a production of just 690.000 tons a year.

Hence, investing for the establishment of units for producing powder, frozen peel, mash, and…. are recommended.
