Annual Production: 215,000 tns.
Main Production Areas: East Azarbaijan, Khorasan, Semnan, Isfahan and Central Provinces.
Main Varieties: Shahroudi, shams, Shekar Pareh, Nasiri, Ordoubad, Naderi, Sefid Zoodras and Tabriz.
Annual Exports: 5500 tns of dried apricot.
Nutritional Values: Rich in vitamins A, B, C and E, potassium, calcium, phosphorus and iron. Vitamin A content of fresh apricots is 2790 international units per 100 gm while it rises ton 7430 I.U. in dried apricot. Iron content of dried apricot is 6.5 mg.
Forms of Consumption: Fresh and dried fruit juices, canned fruit and jam and its sweet kernels are used in confectionery industries.
Industrial & Medicinal Uses: Bitterkernels are used in pharmaceutical industries.
